Mon. 6/1, 7:30pm – Vt Astronomical Soc. --The Andromeda Galaxy will Collide with the Milky Way?! Presented By Catherine Garland, Prof of Physics, Now we know that there are literally billions of galaxies in our universe. These galaxies often interact--colliding and molding each other. Andromeda galaxy and Milky Way galaxies are on a collision course and will become one huge galaxy in a few billion years!


Thu. 6/4, 6/11, 6/18, 6/25, 9am & 10am – Seniors! Learn Very Basic Computer Skills with Americorps Volunteer Casey Clark. Learn computer lingo, use Word, search the World Wide Web, set up an e-mail account, use the mouse. Sign up required- 878-6955 (Note: Due to popularity, there’s a waiting list.)


Tue. 6/9, Wed. 6/10, Thu. 6/11, 7pm – Baseball@Brownell - NESN Hard Times Special: Red Sox v Yankees games –no alcoholic beverages allowed, bring chips and soda to share. Free and open to the public. Room holds 50. More dates into September.


Wed, 6/10, 3pm – Labrador doctor & missionary Dr Wilfred Grenfell & the Dog Team Tavern with tales of early Labrador by Stanley Knapp, and photographs and tales about working at the Dog Team from Ellen Jewett’s letters and photos by Penny Pillsbury, Ellen’s daughter.


Wed. 6/17, 7pm – Eternal Rhythm – Music’s been in you since your first day on earth- discover it this evening with Jim Fitzmorris. Instruments provided or you are welcome to bring your own. All ages invited! Outside under the tent, bring a chair if you’d like. Refreshments!


Thur. 6/18, 3-4pm – Opera for Everyone with Toni Hill – offering a clear & lively description of the development of opera with musical examples. A good way to prepare for more HD Met performances this fall.


Fri. 6/19, 6:30pm – Adult Movie: Young @ Heart” – Prepare to be entertained by the inspiring individuals of a New England senior citizens chorus that has delighted audiences worldwide with their rock music performances.


Mon. 6/22, 7pm – Champlain Echoes Women’s Barbershop Quartet offers a four part singing demo and leads in a Sing-along. For all ages.


Tue. 6/23, 3-5pm – Creston Lea, a Burlington Electric Guitar maker, describes his craft and shows off his instruments. Enjoy the sounds!

June 6/5 & 6/19, 10-10:45am – Songs and Stories with Matthew – Matthew Witten performs songs about our world and tells adventurous tales. For all ages - no registration. Funded by Friends of Brownell Library.

Mon. 6/8, 3:30-4:30 – Teen Advisory Board – Help us plan fun programs for kids and teens this summer. Snacks provided, and new members always welcome! For students in High School as of Fall 2009.


Fri., 6/12 & 6/26, 10-10:30am – Drop-In Story Time for Kids of All Ages – Babies, Toddlers and Preschoolers are welcome to come listen to Picture Book Stories and have fun with Finger Plays and Action Rhymes. No registration required.


Fri. 6/12, 6:30-8:30pm – Teen Movie: School of Rock” – A wannabe rock star (Jack Black) in need of cash poses as a substitute teacher at a prep school, and tries to turn his class into a rock band. Free popcorn and soda. Hosted by TAB. (PG-13)

Tues. 6/16, 9am-5pm – Summer Reading Program Registration for Residents outside the Village.


Wed. 6/17, 3-4pm – World Drumming with Jim Fitzmorris – Jim is a drummer with Sambatucada, Vermont’s own Afro-Brazilian Drumming Band. Kids will have a chance to join in with Jim’s infectious rhythms. For kids entering Gr. K & up.


Booked for Lunch Series – Bring a bag lunch and listen to a librarian read stories about our different themes: Music, Drama, Dance, and Art. We’ll supply dessert! For kids entering Gr. K-5. Choose up to 3 sessions from the series, which continues through July:

Mon. 6/22 & 6/29, 3-5pm – Wii-tastic! – Come try our new Wii Game System! Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Wii Play! For Kids entering Gr. 3 up.


Wed. 6/24, 3-4pm – Musical Petting Zoo – Explore the world of musical instruments: look, touch, hear the sounds! Local teens share their musical talents and instruments with students entering Gr. K-5.


Thurs. 6/25, 10-10:45am – Visit the Vermont Lake Monsters – “Take Me Out to the Ball Game….” Come meet players from our local minor league team, the Lake Monsters, who will autograph your glove or ball. For kids entering Gr. 1 up.


“Be Creative” Art Series – Inspired by Music, Drama, Movement, and Art, we will create a different project each week using art & craft supplies and recyclables. For kids entering Gr. 1 & up. Choose up to 3 sessions from the series, which continues through July.

Fri. 6/26, 6:30-8:15pm – Family Movie: High School Musical 3” – Troy and Gabriella along with the rest of the Wildcats stage a spring musical to address their experiences, hopes and fears about their future. Free popcorn and soda. Hosted by TAB. (G)


Tue. 6/30, 1-2:30pm – Destination Imagination for Elementary Students – Explore new ways to be creative! Try Instant Challenges that involve art, improvisation, storytelling, construction, and much more. For kids entering Gr. 1-5.
